MITEC TRIUMPHS AGAIN – WINS BOTH WORLD TRAVEL AWARD 2024 AND WORLD MICE AWARDS 2024 FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS

Kuala Lumpur, 4 September 2024 – The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), owned by MATRADE has once again solidified its position as a global leader in the events and hospitality industry by winning top accolades at both the World Travel Awards (WTA) and the World MICE Awards (WMA) for the second consecutive year.

This remarkable achievement underscores MITEC’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and exceptional service. MITEC is honoured with the titles of “Malaysia’s Best Convention Centre 2024” at the World MICE Awards and “Asia’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre 2024” at the World Travel Awards, reflecting its outstanding facilities, cutting-edge technology, and exemplary support for world class events. The two prestigious awards, regarded globally as the highest honour, recognise the best in travel and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), highlight MITEC’s continued excellence and its dedication to providing an unparalleled experience for clients and visitors from around the world. These recognitions, regarded globally as the highest honour in travel and tourism,
showcasing MITEC’s excellence and commitment to providing world-class service and facilities.

The Centre’s track record proves the venue’s ability to deliver mega events to organisers, exhibitors and visitors. Few of many highlighted events this year include, the Defence Services Asia & NATSEC Asia 2024 which recorded 47,587-foot traffic from 114 countries, The 54th Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) with over 170,000 visitors and generated more than RM230 million total sales turnover, Absolut Festival X Festival Gaya Raya 2024, 66 hours non-stop which successfully generated over RM20 million and had a phenomenal turnover of more 2 million visitors recorded. Recent incentive events also include, Perfect China International Convention with over 10,000 international delegates followed by an 8-course Chinese set dinner which was fully catered in house by MITEC’s culinary team as well as the International Dragon Awards Annual Conference which brought together 11,000 global financial insurance elites for a mega convention across 4 days.

MITEC being the largest convention and exhibition centre in Malaysia aspires to position itself as the premier gateway to Southeast Asia, serving as a pivotal hub for regional and global engagement, driving regional growth, innovation, and collaboration.
