2019 turned out to be a banner one for international high-profile events. These included; Global Halal Summit 2019, World Halal Conference, SEMICON Southeast Asia 2019, ASEAN Super 8, Metaltech and AutoMEX 2019, POWERGen Asia 2019, Malaysia International Furniture Fair 2019, Smart Manufacturing Exhibition (SMEX 2019) and Malaysia International Water Convention 2019, to name a few.
Locally, the country’s largest trade exhibition space is also gaining grounds by attracting some of Malaysia’s long-standing business events such as Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019, TCCA Critical Communications World, EPC Summit 2019, Selangor International Business Summit 2019 and Malaysia Medical Device Expo 2019.
These contributed to the Centre’s 2019 total of 178 events. Since opening in August 2017, the Centre has hosted 319 events.
Moving forward, 2020 will be an important year for MITEC, Kuala Lumpur and Malaysian business events industry as we will be hosting the 2020 AIPC (International Association of Convention Centres) Annual Conference and 62nd General Assembly in June. The AIPC conference offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase the country as a premier destination for business events to more than 250 senior-level AIPC delegates from over 200 countries around the world.
MITEC was also honoured to welcome Rod Cameron, Executive Director of AIPC in November, signalling the preparation has started for MITEC and Kuala Lumpur to host the AIPC Conference 2020.
